From The Man Who Helped 3 Presidents Get Elected
#21
Apologies for not sending a post out last night. If you’ve been following my stuff on Twitter, probably saw I moderated a panel on the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement and youth involvement. Very riveting conversation. Will share my notes in another post. Anyway, I’ve always looked up to Adebola Williams. You should look him up. You’ll be impressed. I watch his interviews a lot and I’ve put together 14 bullets I wrote from one of his interviews.
Never underestimate the power of learning, access to information. knowledge is the game changer. If you don’t know, it you’ll probably never do it. You must seek knowledge and passionate for knowledge and hungry for knowledge. Never ever stop learning.
Ask yourself, WHAT do you see in the future? Some might call this the law of attraction, but visualize your future and speak it into existence. Believe in the power of the tongue. When you say something so consistently, it comes to you. you can believe something an believe it into reality
Next thing you should ask yourself is WHO do you see.—“After i saw i started looking for people who were in those areas I saw, I wanted to glean and learn from them. I wanted to be xx so i hanged with xx. I went to find those people and talk with those people.”
Who do you see? —Who do you want to be like? Who are the people who you aspire to be? You’ll never be like them —you will be greater then them. Pick the values in their lives because every human being has flaws
So, we have what do you see, who do you see and now WHAT do you do?
You start networking and talking to people. Have an action plan.
“There are many roads to the market”—“I’m not an actor today but I’m doing things that wanted to achieve by being an actor” (Adebola wanted to be an actor as a youngin)
What are the fundamentals that make my life have meaning? —once you find those you begin to understand the means that get you there
Sacrifice. You have to sacrifice for the bigger picture
“Every day is a transaction. today has taken one day of your life. what have you taken back from today.”
“What is your street credibility? “What gives me validation to be the best in my field?” hard work backed with knowledge.”
“My job is to make myself indispensable. My job is to make sure that when they need to do xx, when they’re looking for the best person to do xx, they call me. that is my job.”
What it takes is integrity and conscience. When you’re driven by a why, you will always succeed. What is your why? Why are you here? You must always remember your why
There are more levels to everything. Don’t ever get comfortable.
